It's Women's History Month, and our first anniversary. We have much to celebrate! This month we will be completing three new sets of trading cards, illustrated by three fantastically talented women.
The first is art director and illustrator Meg Wagler, who is working on a 30 card set featuring women in STEM, such as Hedy Lamaar, Wangari Maathai, Chien-Shiung Wu and many more. Meg is also one of the incredible designers from Departika who, with Katie Canada, have created all of the phenomenal graphics and branding for Persistent Sisters. And I can’t wait to start sharing some of their new designs for the upcoming cards! Meg’s illustrations are quirky and colorful and her style is a perfect fit to celebrate some incredible trailblazers in science. I am so looking forward to sharing her work in the next few weeks! For a few sneak peeks, follow Meg on instagram @megwagler.
Next is Carly Martin, a watercolor artist and illustrator, who will be illustrating our new set of trading cards featuring female artists. I love her watercolor portraits, and can’t wait to see her work on the Persistent Sister cards! You can find Carly on instagram @clemetentinestudio, and on the web at www.theclementinestudio.com. This 30 card deck will feature remarkable female artists such as Corita Kent, Lois Jones, Ruth Asawa and many more. Be sure to follow Carly--you might get to see some of the work in progress!
Finally, Amanda Lenz, an artist and designer, will be illustrating a new 30 card set featuring women writers such as Virginia Woolf, Audre Lorde, Willa Cather and many more. Amanda has a personal project called “Ladies I Love” which you can find on her website, www.lenzillustration.com and on instagram @lenzillustration. You’ll see why I’m so excited to have Amanda illustrating the new Persistent Sisters trading cards!
Make sure follow along on instagram for updates and sneak peeks! We hope to have the new cards and some other fun merchandise off to the printer at the end of the month.
